Making the most out of your wedding makeup trial by Make Up Artist, Beauty Blogger and Founder of Blush + Blow Bridget O’Keeffe

Making the most out of your wedding makeup trial by Make Up Artist, Beauty Blogger and Founder of Blush + Blow Bridget O’Keeffe

PREP:

1. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep! No matter how good your makeup artist is, they won’t be able to get rid of bags under your eyes.

2. If you plan on having a spray tan for your wedding day, trial that a day or two before your trial too. The tone of your skin will impact the colours your artist will use on your eyes, lips and cheeks.

3. Wear white! Just as your skin tone effects the way colour sits with your hair and eyes, as does the colour you are wearing. You will get a much more accurate idea of what your makeup will look like on the actual day if you wear the same colour as your dress to the trial.

Winter Wedding Trends to Watch in 2016/17

Wedding trends are always changing and they are often based on the current season. In winter, the trends naturally move towards more wintery themes – which makes sense! This infographic from The Wedding Band Shop outlines all the latest winter wedding trends in onehandy piece for you.

More traditional gowns made a comeback this winter with many featuring Victorian necklines and ladylike feminine lace. With the dark winter nights in mind scattering lights from the ceiling to re-create a ‘starry winter night sky’ was a very popular feature at weddings. This of course looks really fantastic at a winter wedding reception particularly.

Brides choose to wear their “something blue”

dress in grey

Brides have been wearing ivory or white since Queen Victoria made it popular in the 19th century. However, in the 1930s, Wallis Simpson wore a pastel shade of blue to marry Edward, Duke of Windsor which for a short time inspired brides to also wear coloured gowns. This was mainly due to rationing during World War II, where women often wore their “Sunday Best” in pastel shades of yellow, blue and pink for their big day.

Fast forward almost 100 years and brides are again returning to wearing coloured wedding dresses, to reflect their personality, to wear their “something blue” or to just have some fun (not everyone suits ivory after all!)

What should you wear to a winter wedding?

Winter

While it’s never particularly easy to pick out a wedding guest outfit, it’s definitely more of a challenge in the colder months. In summer, clothing shops are full of pretty dresses and barely-there sandals, which are perfect for a wedding in the sun. But, as winter comes around, the high street becomes flooded with big coats and knitwear — things that wouldn’t make the most sophisticated of wedding ensembles.

However, it is possible to put together a winter wedding outfit that is both stylish and practical. Here are some pieces you should consider wearing.
