Add a celebratory spirit to your wedding with Dunnet Bay Distillers

Whether you’re looking to win over your wedding guests with fabulous favours or to build a truly British bar, then look no further than the selection from Dunnet Bay Distillers. The UK’s most northerly mainland distillery offers two lovingly hand-crafted spirits, Rock Rose Gin and Holy Grass Vodka, both unique in flavour and also available in a favour-friendly miniature format.

Set up by husband and wife team, Martin and Claire Murray, in 2014, Dunnet Bay Distillery is located in the wilderness of the far north of Scotland. The couple are passionate about handcrafting spirits that celebrate the heritage and provenance of Caithness and pride themselves on using local hand-foraged botanicals.

Rock Rose Gin

Gaining accolades galore since it launched, Rock Rose Gin features a carefully selected collection of local and traditional botanicals. These include juniper berries, rowan berries and sea buckthorn and many of the botanicals are hand foraged from the local cliffs and forest. In fact, its name comes from one of these botanicals, the Rhodiola rosea (a rose in the rocks), which adds a delicate floral note to the gin. As well as miniatures, also look out for the Seasonal Editions released throughout the year, which could be the perfect finishing touch for seasonally themed weddings.

ginHoly Grass Vodka

A celebration of local produce and ingredients, this vodka features the unusual botanical Holy Grass (or Anthoxanthum nitens ), once discovered on the banks of the nearby Thurso River by Robert Dick, a legendary botanist from Tullibody. The spirit is also infused with a carefully crafted vapour of Highland apples and apple juice, to complement the sweetness of the Holy Grass. Couple and distillery founders, Martin and Claire Murray, have even devised a secret and completely unique way to distil the vodka, using Elizabeth, their traditional copper pot still and Caithness Stone

Plus, if a you don’t want to stop at serving a truly unique spirit you can even hold your wedding at the distillery, which is located right at the top tip of Scotland. The distillery hosted its first wedding last year and details are available on request. Whilst, if you’re a fan of the gorgeous ceramic bottles, the distillery can send you empty bottles or planters for displays - you just need to cover the cost of the postage!
