Albert Hall Says I Do

One of Manchester’s most talked about and breathtaking venues, Albert Hall on Peter Street, has been granted a wedding license, making it possible for the general public to say their vows on the same stage that world class musicians such as Goldfrapp, Sam Smith and Bombay Bicycle Club have performed.

Albert Hall has also announced a private hire service for parties, corporate events and conferences, which will be run in partnership with We Are Family.

Albert Hall first reopened as part of the Manchester International Festival in July 2013 and since then the chapel has been the home of a successful programme of live shows and club nights.  The venue has been bought to life with performances by RNCM string orchestra, and international DJs such as Sasha and MK.

Joel Wilkinson, owner of Albert Hall said: “Albert Hall is a stunning venue for any type of event, the live shows have been incredible here and now we are offering people the iconic venue to create their own special memories in, whether it be a wedding, charity ball, a birthday party or a conference.

“The stage set against the backdrop of the huge organ and the ethereal light that beams through the stain glass windows is a particularly beautiful setting for a wedding. There are very few places you can say your vows in the exact same spot as the musical talent that has graced our stage since the opening.

“It’s crazy to think that over a 100 years ago the venue was being used in the same way as today, for weddings and for entertainment.  At the peak of Albert Hall’s popularity, thousands of people would pack in on Saturday night for concerts, comedy shows and films, interspersed with hymns and prayers. OK we don’t do the prayers and we do serve alcohol but our ethos is the same, come to Albert Hall and have a wonderful time.“

The Grade II listed building has an eclectic style with Baroque and Gothic elements, set over three stories. The meeting hall and prime event space is located on the first floor, it has a horseshoe gallery, sloping floor and coloured glass rooflights and can be transformed to create an event people can talk about for years to come.
