It’s the one product that you should have been liberally applying, like yesterday! But, you’ll get the best results by choosing an eye cream containing the correct ingredients to target your specific eye concerns. Here leading Consultant Aesthetic Oculoplastic Surgeon, Dr Sabrina Shah-Desai from Perfect Eyes Ltd explains how to re-boost your eye zone with the right ingredients so its looks picture perfect on your Wedding Day at any age:

THE PROBLEM:

DARK CIRCLES

The skin under the eyes becomes thinner and more transparent as we age making the tiny blood vessels underneath look more visible.

THE INGREDIENT FIX:

Protect the under eye skin by using an eye cream containing vitamin C and K to brighten the skin and help strengthen blood vessel walls, also a sunscreen will prevent further pigmentation.

TRY: NeoStrata Bionic Eye Cream with Vit K and iS Clinical C Eye Advance+ with Vit C

WRINKLES

One of the main culprits of the appearance of lines around our eyes as we hit 30, is sun exposure as it hastens the loss of skin firming collagen.

THE INGREDIENT FIX:

Look for an eye cream that has collagen boosting ingredients such as Vitamin E and peptides and also the skin plumping wrinkle smoother, hyaluronic acid.

TRY: iS Clinical Youth Eye Complex or Obaji ELASTIderm.

THE PROBLEM:

DEHYDRATION

Lack of sleep, dehydration through excess alcohol and caffeine consumption and poor skin care can have the same effect as smoking on the eye area.

THE INGREDIENT FIX:

Usually dehydration is the first sign you need to use an eye cream. Look for skin hydrating and soothing eye cream formulas that contain humectants –ingredients that pull in water from the air - to ensure skin is kept smooth and protected throughout the day.

TRY: iS Clinical Youth Complex

THE PROBLEM:

PUFFY EYES

The fat pads under the eyes can begin to droop with age, leading to puffiness.

THE INGREDIENT FIX:

Creams with caffeine in them help reduce puffiness, along with ones packed with antioxidants. If your eyes are irritated, use Aloe Vera to calm the skin.

TRY: Skinceuticals AOX+ Eye Gel

Here Dr Sabrina Shah-Desai reveals her expert application tips:

■ If your eye area is dry or dehydrated, ideally you should use an eye cream in the morning to help with the application of concealer.

■ Eye cream that contains an SPF should only be used in the morning.

■ Most eye creams should be applied at least once a day at night, after cleansing.

■ Something to remember is that the stronger the product the less you should apply.

■ The best way to apply an eye cream is to take a grain of rice amount and place on your ring finger, press both ring fingers together so product is evenly distributed between both hands and then pat both ring fingers around the orbital eye bone area.

■ You should notice an improvement in the skin quality around the eye area in two-six weeks of starting to use an eye cream.
