Magnificent Seven: Finalists Announced in Red7’s Hunt for Britain’s Best Best Man

Leading stag and hen travel expert, Red7, has searched far and wide to find Britain’s best Best Man – and today the seven national finalists have been revealed.

Dubbed the ‘Magnificent Seven’, the crop of finalists comprises the competition’s regional winners from across Great Britain and sets a very high bar for all future Best Men.

Each Best Man had to prove he had gone the extra mile, from overcoming the adversity of a sudden family death, to sourcing two giant Aldabra tortoises as guests of honour at his tortoise-loving mate’s nuptials, and even adding a touch of Hollywood with a personalised message from ‘Anchorman’ star, Paul Rudd.

With hundreds of entries, competition was tough amongst proud grooms wanting to shout about their mate’s efforts and Best Men who thought they deserved the title.

The judges, however, were looking for a Best Man who showed himself to have a host of gentlemanly qualities, from diplomacy to loyalty, as well as a fun and entertaining edge.

Alongside this, the regional winners who now go on to contest for the national title were chosen based on instances where they went above and beyond for the groom, and of best man.jpgcourse, feedback from the groom himself.

The final seven will now attend a luxury event in Brighton, where Britain’s Best Best Man will be crowned on 22 September – with one notable exception, Sean Keenan, the South West’s Best Best Man, who will be joining the ceremony via Skype from Mount Kilimanjaro!

Ian Lucas, Founder of Red7 commented: “During 20 years in business as the UK’s original specialist hen and stag party travel agent, we have seen the role of the Best Man change significantly. Gone are the days of organising a few pints down the groom’s local and cobbling together a stitch-up speech for the wedding day while nursing a hangover from the night before!best man at a wedding

“Today’s Best Man is responsible for making sure the groom gets a terrific send off into married life – often with a two or three-day trip abroad. He then gets to play a starring role in the wedding itself, whether that’s a tear-jerking but hilarious speech, helping to choreograph the first dance, or simply making sure everything runs without a hitch. It’s a big job, but these seven guys have shown that they really made the role their own.

“Whittling down the entries was a tough task, but I’m confident that in these final seven we have the nation’s very finest examples of what a Best Man should be. I can’t wait to crown the winner!”
