New research has revealed that 4 in 10 of the UK’s pet owners would want their beloved pet at their wedding! A survey of UK pet owners* commissioned by raw and natural pet food experts Natures Menu, has found that almost half of pet lovers (40%) would have their four-legged friend play a part in their special day. 

Of the traditional wedding day roles, official ring bearer is the most popular part of the official proceedings that we’d give to our pet (22%). This was followed by their appearance in the official photographs on the big day (20%), engagement photos and save the dates (11%) and even walking down the aisle as a bridesmaid (11%). 5% also said man’s best friend would be their best man or groomsman on their wedding day.

A new survey by family law firm Brookman Solicitors of over 1,000 married individuals has revealed some wise words on how to go the distance for the soon to be wedded couple, and the secrets to a long and happy marriage.

 

The survey, conducted in April 2018 asked 1006 married individuals about their experiences within their marriages to date, common problems faced and what advice they would provide to newlyweds hoping to maintain their vows for a lifetime. Of those surveyed, 76% had been married for over 20 years, so there were plenty of anecdotes and words of wisdom to share!

Picture a British wedding and some familiar images come to mind – a white dress, vows we all know by heart, a toast to the bride and groom, and confetti in the air as the happy couple drive away in a ‘just married’ car... the great wedding traditions.

That kind of vignette has been the closing shot to many a film and has been ingrained in British culture for more than a century.

But all those wedding traditions are under threat according to a survey by group travel experts Red7.

The survey, which polled 2,002 respondents in the UK, showed that attitudes to weddings are seriously changing.

With the 2018 wedding season upon us, new research from American Express reveals that approximately a third (32%) of Brits will attend at least one wedding this year, spending an average of £303 on each event. These costs can soon stack up, and with UK adults planning to attend on average three weddings in 2018, this could result in a national wedding guest bill of £15 billion, In fact, the total cost of being a guest this season (£909) will amount to more than the average amount a couple spends on their wedding rings (£809).

Wedding guests are now spending an average of £218 on attending friends and family’s weddings, a new study has revealed. 

The survey, conducted by leading high street jewellers, Goldsmiths, has revealed the cost of attending a wedding 2018, as well as the things that guests find the most annoying about attending their loved ones’ big days.

The study found that Belfast is the most expensive place in the UK to attend a wedding, with the average guest spending £278 on essentials such as gifts, accommodation, drinks and a new outfit for the day.

With more than a third (39%) of those questioned being outraged at the thought of being invited to a hen/stag do abroad when the wedding is also overseas, 75% wanting to pick out their own engagement ring, and almost a fifth of singletons being disappointed if they don’t get a ‘plus one’ to the wedding - we get to the bottom of the perfect engagement and wedding etiquette to create a conflict-free day!
