In most parts of the country, throwing a winter wedding is a gamble but falling temperatures are no reason to avoid having the wedding you want. It’s important to consider light, warmth and foliage as a foundation for your setting. Embrace the colder days and darker nights and create a stunning, inviting and snug wedding setting with the right mix of decor and accessories.

Light the way:

Use a mix of lighting; candelabras and fairy lights add a warm glow to your ceremony room; carefully placed candles and t-lights can help create an intimate dining setting; and make the most of your outdoor space by using floor standing lanterns to light surrounding pathways and grounds.

It’s important to communicate with your photographer ahead of time to ensure you get the best lighting possible for your wedding shots too.

Embrace the cold air and all of the custom elements that it offer, there’s nothing quite like the glow, crackling and ambiance created by a log-burning fire, it really is the perfect addition to a winter wedding.

Outdoor fire pits can turn a cold, dark outdoor space into an inviting and camp-like setting for your guests to gather around, toast marshmallows and s’mores on, and to light sparklers. Scattered soft wool blankets make a welcome and practical addition to outdoor seating.

Winter warmers:

Pull in the wonders of winter with your decor too! Winter offers one of the most stunning seasonal palettes and a colourful alternative to the lighter, paler colour normally associated with summer weddings. Go bold with berry, burgundy, plum and gold, or more autumnal with woodland inspired rich red’s, sunset orange and forest green for centerpieces with pine cones, holly berries and gardenias, as well as sprays and space decor.
