The wedding countdown begins

With just 35 days to go to her wedding, bride to be Nichola Davis shares her feelings with Vows and venues.......

Nichola and partner Jonny have been together ten years meeting just before her eighteenth birthday.

Where and when? 2nd April, Park Hall Hotel, Charnock Richard in the Medieval suite.

What can you reveal about the day itself? Well I have taken full control of arrangements. I feel confident that everything is on track. I can reveal that there will be a Disney song or two, chocolate fountains and a nod to Jonny’s favourite football team.

Football on your special day!

It’s not as bad as it sounds! We’ve incorporated pale blue into the floral arrangements, bridesmaids dresses and some of the cupcakes for the reception, you’ve probably guessed that he is obsessed with all things Manchester City, but the shade of blue used for their football kit is actually quite  pretty if it’s used in a subtle way.

Current mood?

I feel surprisingly calm, but then I have been planning this for almost two years!

It feels a little strange that it is now so close and there are still things to do but I feel like it is all under control.

I wanted the planning to impact as little as possible on my day to day life and not having to arrange everything in a big hurry has meant less stress and also less financial strain as we have been paying for things as we go along.

What is there still to do?

Well me and the bridesmaids have to be fitted for shoes and underwear, we don’t want any rogue bra straps on show, so we still have a bit of accessorising to do but it shouldn’t be too painful.

I’ve had one hair ‘trial’ so need to arrange another and there are some final checks to be made on the flowers and some of the cupcakes that will feature, but this week is also my Hen night.......

Do tell!

I wish I could but despite my usual need to be in control, I agreed to leave it in the hands of my best friend Hayley who has organised it all. What I do know is that we are heading to Edinburgh for the weekend (27th), there are sixteen of us and I need to pack a ‘dressy’ black dress. I have no idea what we’re doing, I actually know more about my fiancés stag trip (also in Edinburgh on a different weekend obviously). Without giving too much away his weekend will be fairly ‘action packed’ with quite a bit of variety but I’m sure there’ll be plenty of time for the ususal alcohol fuelled hi-jinks!

I  recently enjoyed a champagne afternoon tea ‘Hen’ gathering at the Shaw Hill hotel Chorley with some of the older members of the family which was elegant and civilised so I’m really looking forward to letting my hair down and enjoying the hen weekend!

Honeymoon plans

Quite simply I can’t wait! We’re staying at a 5 star resort in Cancun, Mexico.

Fabulous, we look forward to speaking to you again after your Hen weekend-enjoy!
