How to bring Autumn into your wedding

Whilst autumn is not traditionally as popular as spring or summer for a wedding, it is becoming increasingly more in demand. For couples marrying in Britain, autumn is the perfect season to tie the knot. Wedding inspiration is never scarce as nature begins to showcase a scenic array of bright yellows, deep reds and vibrant oranges. For both traditional and more contemporary weddings, adding colour brings something special to the overall feel of the celebration.

There are a lot of ways to embrace the season and bring it into your wedding. Firstly, for decoration, use the great colour scheme that autumn brings to the day, or add a bit more sparkle by going for the jewel tone equivalents. Rich rubies, golds and emeralds will stand out, and can be paired with equally radiant bouquets of red peonies, purple eustoma and ferns. If you are going for a more rustic approach, opt for English garden classics, such as willow arches with an array of different coloured hydrangeas and bouquets of white, orange and peach tea roses which create a subtler approach to an appreciation of the season.

How to bring Autumn into your weddingAs well as striking colours, there is a warmth that comes with autumn; a welcoming addition of log fires and cosy jumpers. Add that feeling of comfort to your wedding by topping tables with candles and leaves as well as small tartan blanket throws to dress chairs. Lighting should be warming, and is often better when complementary rather than overpowering, think soft up-lighting. To accentuate the cosy, secluded feel, you can even include floor to ceiling fabric draping in your themed colours.

In the last couple of years there has been a growing trend for informality and getting rid of the typical dry chicken and potatoes. Serve your guests a rich butternut squash and chilli soup or a roasted chestnut, beetroot and pancetta salad followed by warming but refined game How to bring Autumn into your weddingdishes, or deep colourful root veg that champions the season’s best produce.

Taking inspiration from the time of year is a great way to add consistency to your big day and adds to the overall story of your wedding. While these touches will add a unique edge, its important for couples to personalise their day with tailored elements. Consider what the season means to you and your partner and add in those elements which are uniquely yours.

With so much inspiration to draw from, autumn is the ideal time for getting hitched. The season famously represents change, drawing the old to a close and welcoming in the beginning of something new. The perfect way to start the rest of your lives together!
