Hen parties are one of the most fun parts of organising a wedding. It’s a chance to gather the girls together for a special event to mark the occasion. Many brides and their hens are choosing to bypass the traditional one night out and instead head off for an entire weekend away.
The New Forest is an outstanding area of natural beauty and the ideal spot for a hen weekend. Easily accessed by train or car, but a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s got something to suit all tastes.
Accommodation for Hens
The New Forest has some gorgeous accommodation available, from two person cabins on stilts over the water through to eco friendly cottages, converted chapels and even an old telephone exchange.
Finding a property large enough for the whole hen party to stay together can be more challenging, but there are some fab holiday properties available that offer just that.
One of the most popular large group cottages in the New Forest is Rightman’s Place - and it’s easy to see why! It’s set in its own 20 acres of grounds and sleeps 11 people. With plenty of space for everyone to enjoy, it also oozes charm thanks to the traditional features. It even has a well in the hallway beneath the glass floor, complete with backlighting making it a truly stunning place to stay.
Hens staying at Rightman’s Place have the opportunity to enjoy a hen weekend full of outdoor activities, healthy options and plenty of quality time with the girls. Picnic in the garden, go running or play rounders in the grounds and enjoy all of the nearby activities and sights too.
Activities for Hens
There’s plenty to do in the New Forest for hen parties of all tastes. Take to the great outdoors to enjoy the many walking and cycling routes of the area, head to the coast to enjoy the beaches or simply relax in a local quaint forest pub and watch the world go by.
Just 10 minutes drive from Rightman’s Place is the New Forest Water Park, where you can try wakeboarding, water skiing or try out the inflatable aqua park!
New Forest Activities also offers a wide range of activities which you can book in advance, including kayaking, climbing, cycling and lots more.
Eating and Drinking in the New Forest
Self catering in the New Forest is really easy. Stray away from the supermarket and head to one of the food markets in the area. Setley’s Ridge is popular with locals for it’s food and also its wine selection which comes from its own vineyard, or try Tatchbury Manor Farm for homemade jams and a fantastic selection of meats.
If you fancy getting out of the house for a meal or drinks of an evening, the New Forest has plenty to offer you, from local cafes to Michelin star restaurants and everything in between.
The Haven restaurant, set in the heart of Lymington Marina, is another excellent choice - more modern in style than the pubs and with views over the waterfront. If you’re for something extra special, try one of the many Michelin and AA rosette awarded restaurants dotted across the New Forest.
