In July 2017 the National Gallery welcomed its first bride and groom for an intimate wedding breakfast. Celebrating with a joyful gathering of family and friends, the couple held a very special wedding ‘breakfast’ (this time it was actually breakfast, being hosted before public opening) in the stunning surroundings of the Gallery’s glass-domed Barry Rooms. The pair chose the National Gallery as their wedding venue for their personal love of art and for the opportunity to have the paintings and beautiful spaces all to themselves as part of their wedding celebrations.

Choosing a wedding venue is arguably, one of the biggest choices a couple can make when it comes to planning their big day, and the chance of finding one which meets every expectation is a tall order.

Karen James-Watkins of Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales, shares with us her observations over the last couple of years, reflecting on the notable rise in couples wanting the ability to “build their own” wedding, ensuring their day is unique and personal to them.  

From January until August 2017 the Natural History Museum will offer couples the exclusive opportunity to host their wedding reception in the majestic North Hall as Hintze Hall temporarily closes its doors to make way for a new installation.

To begin the celebrations, couples can host a relaxing drinks and canapé reception in the museum’s tranquil Darwin Centre courtyard. The strikingly contemporary space is easily adapted to suit specific themes and offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

En route to North Hall, guests will be taken on a spectacular journey through the world class exhibits that the musem has to offer.
