Bespoke Luxury Wedding – Why Self-Catering Makes Sense

Married couple stood in the grounds Woodhall Spa

You’re planning the bespoke luxury wedding of your dreams and you set your heart on a lovely country house in beautiful grounds for your big day and your hundred guests.

You draw up a shortlist of half a dozen hotels and arrange initial viewings.

You’re shown around the properties and told just how bespoke they’ll make your luxury wedding.

But how many others have been on the same conveyor belt and told exactly the same story? How many others have chosen their three course menu plus wine and fizz for a mere £120?

That’s £12,000. Ouch!

Northside Farm invests in tiny cottages for wedding accommodation

Olivia Northside Cottages owner

LUXURY Northumberland wedding venue Northside Farm has shed light on its second phase investment plans into expanding its accommodation offering.

Northside Farm in Horsley has injected an additional £50,000 of self-raised funds to build four whimsical ‘tiny cottages’ complete with their own private outdoor seating area and fire pit by the paddocks within the existing glamping site which currently boasts ten timber wigwams with amenities.

The new investment comes just months after owners announced the first phase renovation of an existing derelict circular gin gang as part of a £100,000 total expansion plan for the 75acre working farm.

Hold an intimate ceremony at The Bridge Prestbury

The Bridge Prestbury

If you’re planning a smaller ceremony or vow renewal, this quaint Cheshire venue is a great choice. Victoria Galligan visited The Bridge Prestbury and found the 16th-century venue may have changed over the years, but its tradition of offering excellent service and quality ingredients is far from outdated…

Couples planning an intimate ceremony with a carefully selected guest list will love The Bridge in Prestbury. Situated in the centre of the charmingly antiquated village which is renowned for its famous inhabitants, you can expect to see the likes of sporting favourites Andrew Flintoff or Wayne Rooney running their weekend errands in this delightful part of the country.

Vows and Venues gives its verdict on new Cheshire wedding venue The Courthouse, Knutsford

The Courthouse wedding venue in Knusford, Cheshire - restaurant

All rise for the Courthouse – a converted public building in Knutsford which is as unique as it is charming. Our editor Victoria Galligan stayed at the wedding venue and did not feel “guilty” about indulging in a four-course feast…

It’s hard to believe when sitting in the restaurant at The Courthouse that as recently as 2010, the judge was banging the gavel and the defendants were being grilled in the dock. The court lay empty until Flat Cap Hotels restored it and it was relaunched as a venue in summer 2017. Thanks to a sensitively planned refurb, the original fixtures and fittings you’d expect to see in a courtroom are still there and give you the feeling you’re right in the middle of a courtroom drama.

Celebrating in style at Crabwall Manor

Crabwall Manor

Vows & Venues' managing editor Emma Hatherall took a trip to historic Chester for a relaxing spa weekend in a romantic setting…

Crabwall Manor is located a short taxi ride from the historic city of Chester and has a lot to offer whether you're looking for a wedding venue, a hen do or even just a chilled out spa weekend. Set in Mollington, it’s a stone's throw from all that Chester has to offer – the shopping, the horse racing, the history – Crabwall Manor still has that lovely country house feel to it. I took my Mum for an overnight spa break and we loved it

Why opt for a vegan wedding?

Vegan wedding desserts

As World Vegan Month draws to a close, Vows &Venues find out more about vegan wedding options with the team at Best Western Plus Mosborough Hall, the luxury Sheffield wedding venue.

Catering at a wedding and ensuring that the wedding party and guests are 100% happy with the food choices is one of the most difficult parts of a wedding.  Ask any wedding couple and they will invariably say that choosing a food menu that suits everyone is one of the most difficult parts of the day.  That’s why we’ve seen lots of couples requesting a vegan menu in the past 12 months, and it seems this this a trend that’s here to stay.

Why not hold a quintessential afternoon tea at your vegan wedding?

Afternoon tea at a vegan wedding

During World Vegan Month, we take a look at vegan wedding trends with Whirlowbrook Hall, a premier wedding venue in South Yourkshire…

What’s not to love about the quintessential British tradition of afternoon tea? Combine that with a vegan wedding and you’ve got the wedding breakfast of dreams.  As more and more couples are looking for something a little bit different for their wedding catering an afternoon tea inspired menu fits the bill perfectly. Add to that a choice of vegan only sandwiches and cakes then you’ve really got a beautiful wedding that suits all tastes and food preferences.
