Each year, 12 million girls around the world are married before they reach the age of 18. Nearly one every two seconds. If there is no reduction, the global number of women married as children will reach 1.2 billion by 2050.

In a bid to tackle this global issue, Brides Do Good, is encouraging women from all over the UK to say ‘I do’ to sustainable wedding dress shopping – and to harness the power of the bridal industry to support charity programmes that empower girls, educate communities and end child marriage.

How to choose a wedding outfit for an event of a different culture

You’ve received an invitation to a wedding which is exciting enough, but even more so if the wedding is of a different culture. It is sure to be a great experience – but what will you wear? It is hard enough trying to find a wedding outfit in the UK. Luckily Charles Tyrwhitt, retailers of quality morning suits, have investigated how the culture of the bride and groom can change the dress code of a wedding.

How will the bride be dressed?

Tradition in the UK is for the bride to be wearing a white gown, usually accompanied by a veil and long train. But how do our own bridal traditions compare to India, Japan and China?

Most women have dreamt of their wedding dress since they were little, and it is arguably the biggest decision of their big day. But how do you decide on the style? Do you want a heavily embellished dress, something more elegant and classic, a budget-friendly option or a gown that makes you stand out from the crowd?

Make the mother of the bride feel fabulous with a bespoke dress

Bespoke dress

Mothers are an important part of our lives, and having had mothering Sunday recently, it’s a perfect time to think about how they’d feel on the big day, especially as a lot of mothers will have waited their whole lives for the occasion and it can be as important to them as it is to the bride and groom. Everyone looks to see what the mother of the bride and groom are wearing as well as the bride, so of course they want to feel extra special and fabulous. The traditional mother of the bride outfit style isn’t one that all mothers want to wear, and to find that perfect outfit can be almost as difficult as buying the wedding dress. So the question then is where do they buy their outfit from if they don’t want the traditional look?

Leading UK alternative bridal boutique launches their first collection

Rock the frock Bridal boutique

Chelmsford based bridal boutique for the design led bride, Rock The Frock, has recently launched their first bridal collection, designed by their founder Karen Whybro. The collection has been heavily influenced by the designs of the 1960s and 1970s and features capes, trouser suits, ballooned chiffon sleeves alongside modern separates such as pastel lace bodies and crops. Karen, only 4 years ago, was a primary school teacher, who frustrated at both the education sector and how hard it was to find a wedding dress that suited her style, decided to quit to open what is now a hugely influential boutique, and is franchising across UK and internationally in 2018.

Beautiful Blue Bridesmaid Dresses

Blue has been a desired color for weddings for centuries. Blue is so beautiful and it is easily accented and works well with any venue. But to find why blue has held on in the rainbow of wedding colors for so long, we have to look to history.

You have probably heard the rhyme associated with brides, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” This was more than a rhyme during the Victorian era. This was a recipe for a happy marriage that people of the day strongly believed in.
