Beautifully restored Garthmyl Hall opened its doors to 100s of brides and grooms-to-be at the official launch weekend.

An extensive restoration project lasting six months has transformed a fading Georgian country family home in Powys into Wales' newest, exclusive wedding venue.

In excess of 500 people visited the official launch weekend, which proved a great success for all involved. The beautiful sunshine and live music added to the magical atmosphere for visitors to soak up as they wandered through the grounds. Visitors could see firsthand the work done to-date and the exciting future plans for the walled garden.

Private tours of all the bedrooms were popular, where visitors could hear more about the Halls history and have any questions they had answered by the friendly staff. Prospective brides and grooms received a goody bag, canapes and peach Bellini’s. One bride said “It’s a breath-taking venue, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting”.

Many of the rooms were decorated with gorgeous floral pieces and the bedrooms were decorated with little

hand cut flower vases and scented candles throughout. The main function room; the Ballroom was dressed for a wedding breakfast, with huge cream and gold rose centrepieces, it gave everyone a vision of how it could look on their big day. Local suppliers were very excited to attend and be part of the experience. Garthmyl Hall will bring a lot of new interest and revenue to the area, providing something different to the Mid Wales and Shropshire border that hasn’t been seen before.

The Pugh family from Churchstoke purchased the Hall in October 2015 and in the past 6 months hasundertaken the mammoth task to get it ready as a high end exclusive hire Wedding and Events venue. Their daughter Julia has transformed the Hall from a sad, run down house to what it is now; a breath-taking Georgian Hall. Each room has been stunningly redesigned and decorated, having its own individuality and theme. Julia has a real flair for interior design and wedding planning, she wanted to create a venue that is very different to most. It was certain that the finishing touches were appreciated by all that came through the door, there were lots of “Wow” moments created with visitors struggling to pinpoint their favourite part of the Hall!

The Hall was officially opened by Christine Churchill, a previous owner whose letters written to Father Christmas when she was a young child were found in the chimney during the renovation some 77 years after.
