Knebworth
Set amongst the rolling hills of the Hertfordshire countryside, Knebworth has welcomed everyone from Queen Elizabeth I and Charles Dickens to Winston Churchill and Mick Jagger.
Just 28-miles north of London, the spectacular main house has been home to the Lytton family since 1490, and was transformed with a Gothic twist from the original red brick structure in 1843.
With turrets, domes and gargoyles, it makes a stunning backdrop for weddings, with a licence to host civil ceremonies for up to 80 people. It also has three lavish reception rooms.
The Jacobean Banqueting Hall has had the pleasure of entertaining leading figures including prime ministers, artists, authors and royalty, and can host up 60 guests.
Also available are the Edwardian Dining Parlour, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and the Victorian Library of Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton, one of the 19th Century’s leading novelists and statesmen.
Larger parties can book out all three rooms to cater for up to 200 guests.
For something a little more quirky, the 400-year-old Tithe Barns date back to the 16th Century, and have been lovingly restored to create a unique setting. Tithe Barns can welcome up to 180 guests for ceremonies, and then up to 300 for evening parties.
For a more contemporary feel, the estate is also home to the Cobbold and Lytton Barns.
These beautiful oak buildings were transformed in 2011 into an exclusive wedding venue, which can host ceremonies for up to 80 people, wedding breakfasts for up to 120 and evening receptions for a maximum of 300.
Knebworth's formal gardens are also licenced for ceremonies of up to 180 guests, with its gazebo a popular choice with couples looking for a stunning outdoor setting.
As one of Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events locations, Knebworth benefits from a team of talented chefs who will produce a menu to suit all requirements, from bespoke dinners, to buffets and canapés.

The Athenaeum
The pretty market town of Bury St Edmunds is home to one of Suffolk’s finest venues, The Athenaeum.
This Grade I listed building dates back to the early 18th Century, when it was known as the Assembly rooms, a place for locals to gather to socialise and throw parties.
In 1854 it was renamed The Athenaeum, and it still retains many of its original ornate features.
Now owned by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and managed n association with Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, offering bridal parties the finest food and drink, all created by a talented team of chefs.
Its elegant, Georgian Ballroom features ornate chandeliers hanging from a grand, high ceiling, along with a balcony and sweeping staircase, perfect for making an entry to remember.
It can host up to 180 guests for a ceremony, 160 seated for a wedding breakfast and up to 200 for evening celebrations.
For those seeking something a little more intimate, the Lounge and Reading Room, both located on the first floor, could be the perfect choice.
These rooms both cater for parties of 20 upwards, with the Lounge holding a maximum of 70, while the Reading Room can host 50.
There is also the Old Billiards Room at the front of the house, which is ideal for ceremonies up to 60 guests.
