Oxford, 21 September 2017: Couples looking for something a little different for their big day are in luck, as the iconic Malmaison Oxford today announced that the former prison-turned-hotel’s ‘A Wing’ can now be exclusively hired for weddings.
Housed in one of the hotel’s former prison wings, A wing boasts the most beautiful and unique wedding space within the castle, including the Atrium, and 38 spacious double bedrooms, each converted from three adjoining former cells. With a capacity of 120, the space is perfect for ceremonies, drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts, and the surrounding bedrooms are ideal for guests that want to make a night of it.
Each room has been carefully converted – they retain the original vaulted ceilings, thick walls and stone cold iron doors, but thoughtful touches like the modern lighting, high quality timber flooring, and bespoke art work give them a modern, luxurious touch.
Rachael Bird, General Manager at Malmaison Oxford, commented, “We pride ourselves on offering our guests the unexpected – and what better way than the opportunity to get married in a former prison.
“And not only will the venue impress - guests can rely on our experienced team of planners, chefs and sommeliers to help you plan every step, from canapé’s to nibble on over Champagne and our signature cocktails, to a heavenly wedding breakfast with fine wines”
Located in the castle quarter of Oxford, Malmaison Oxford offers the perfect blend of modern style, eccentric atmosphere and unrivalled hospitality – offering a spectacular setting for an unforgettable wedding with a unique backdrop.
